God Is Doing Something New

Today’s Scripture

Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don’t you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land.

Isaiah 43:19 (NCV)

Inspirational Word

Israel was being called to notice God’s work rather than live only from memories of the past. The verse does not promise an easy road; it pictures God making a road in a desert and water in dry places. His new work can begin in places that still look difficult.

There is a difference between asking God to change everything around us and allowing Him to begin something within us. A desert road is meaningful precisely because the landscape is hard to cross; living water matters because the ground is dry. Perhaps this year will bring a restored relationship, a difficult but necessary decision, or a new willingness to serve. We do not need to manufacture a dramatic beginning. We need eyes attentive to God's faithfulness and hearts ready to respond when a door to obedience opens.

Enter 2027 with open hands. Instead of demanding that God fit a detailed script, ask where He is already inviting you to trust, obey, repair, learn, or begin again. Newness often starts with one faithful response.

Reflection

What step of obedience might God be inviting me to take as this new year begins?

Prayer

Lord, help me recognize Your work in this new year. Make a way where I cannot see one and give me courage to follow You. Amen.

Helpful questions & answers

A few things to know before choosing your devotional.

What is this devotional about?

Daily Bible Verse & Inspirational Word 2027 is a daily Christian devotional with 365 dated readings for January through December 2027. It connects NCV Scripture selections with original reflections, personal questions, prayers, and illustrations for everyday Christian life. It is a devotional companion, not a complete Bible or a read-through-the-Bible plan.

Who is it intended for?

It is intended for adults seeking a steady rhythm of Christian Scripture reading, reflection, and prayer—whether they are beginning that habit or returning to it. The readings speak to everyday decisions, relationships, responsibilities, gratitude, perseverance, and hope; the book is not limited to men or women.

What does each daily reading include?

Each dated daily reading includes a Scripture selection, an original inspirational reflection, a personal reflection question, a prayer, and a corresponding illustration. The print layout also provides personal response space on daily pages where room permits; it is not a full daily journaling workbook.

Which Bible translation does it use?

Scripture selections use the New Century Version (NCV). The book includes the required translation acknowledgment. Readers are encouraged to open their Bible and consider the surrounding passage as they reflect.

What is the difference between the color and black-and-white editions?

The devotional readings are the same. Black-and-white print editions reproduce the interior illustrations in black and white on cream paper. The full-color paperback uses Standard Color on white paper; the full-color hardcover uses Premium Color on white paper. Every print edition has a full-color cover.

Are the paperback and hardcover contents the same?

Yes. All four print editions contain the same devotional readings, twelve illustrated monthly dividers, five Scripture in Context features, and opening and closing reflection material. Each is 6 × 9 inches and 394 pages. Binding, interior printing, and paper are the differences to compare.

Can I read it on Kindle?

An illustrated, reflowable Kindle edition has been submitted to Amazon. Its public purchase link is not yet confirmed. It is designed for a compatible Kindle app or device, with no fixed print page count. Kindle Unlimited participation is not being offered or claimed.

Do I have to begin on January 1?

No. The readings are dated for 2027, but you can begin with the date in front of you or return to a reading that speaks to your season. If you miss a day, simply continue; the purpose is a meaningful rhythm, not a perfect attendance record.

Is it suitable as a Christian gift?

It can be a thoughtful Christian devotional gift for someone who would welcome a year of Scripture, reflection, and prayer. Compare the binding, illustration printing, and digital format to choose what suits the reader. Check Amazon’s actual listing for availability and delivery before making gift plans.

How does purchasing it support the ministry?

All net proceeds support the nonprofit mission of El Roi Digital Ministries: equipping churches and ministries with practical technology, training, and digital resources to strengthen outreach and serve communities. Buying the book is a retail purchase, not a tax-deductible donation.

One day. One Scripture.
One opportunity to grow closer to God.
