Today’s Scripture
29 Jesus said, “Come.”
— Matthew 14:29–31 (NCV)
And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. 30 But when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink. He shouted, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter. Jesus said, “Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?”

Today’s Encouragement
Matthew 14:22–33 shows both courageous faith and human weakness. Peter stepped out of the boat at Jesus’ command, then became afraid when he focused on the storm. When he cried for help, Jesus immediately reached for him. Faith does not mean never feeling fear; it means knowing whom to call when fear rises.
Inspirational Word
Peter did something remarkable before he ever began sinking: he got out of the boat. He trusted Jesus enough to step into a situation that made no sense from a human perspective. Then Peter noticed the storm. Fear began competing with faith, and he started sinking.
It is easy to criticize Peter for becoming afraid, but do not overlook what happened next. Peter cried out to Jesus for rescue, and Scripture says Jesus immediately reached for him.
Maybe today you feel like Peter. You stepped forward in faith, but now the wind seems stronger than you expected. Something that looked manageable suddenly feels overwhelming. Your next act of faith does not have to be pretending that you are not afraid. Sometimes faith is simply calling to Jesus for help. The same Jesus who called Peter onto the water was there when Peter began sinking. He is still faithful when our courage falters.
Pause & Reflect
What “wind” has been taking my attention away from Christ?
Today’s Prayer
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You. When fear rises, remind me that Your hand is closer than the storm. Amen.
