Today’s Encouragement
Psalm 46:10 calls us to stop striving and recognize God’s rule. In context, the psalm describes upheaval and conflict, not a quiet retreat. “Be still” is therefore more than relaxation; it is a summons to release frantic control and remember that God remains God even when the world feels unstable.
Inspirational Word
The call to stop and recognize God sounds peaceful, but Psalm 46 is not describing a peaceful world. The psalm speaks of mountains moving, waters roaring, nations raging, and kingdoms being moved. Into that instability comes God’s command to stop striving and remember who He is.
The instruction is powerful because it does not depend on circumstances becoming quiet first. Stillness is a decision to stop acting as though frantic effort can control everything. It is remembering who God is while the noise is still present.
You may not be able to remove every interruption from today. But you can create a moment to stop, pray, breathe, read the Word, and remember that God’s authority does not rise and fall with your circumstances. Stillness is not passivity. After being still, you may need to act. The difference is that you act from trust instead of panic.
Pause & Reflect
What am I trying to control that I need to place back under God’s authority?
Today’s Prayer
God, quiet the striving in me. Help me remember that You are God in the middle of uncertainty, and teach me to act from trust rather than fear. Amen.
